Voilà French for iPhone and iPad
Privacy Policy
The short version: this release of Voilà French does not collect any data about you. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party service of any kind. Everything you do stays in the app's private storage on your own device.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy describes how the Voilà French app for iPhone and iPad handles information. It is published by App to Learn Pte. Ltd., a company registered in Singapore ("we", "us"), and applies only to the app. It does not cover the App Store itself, which Apple operates under its own privacy policy, nor any other app, website, or service.
Where this policy says what the app does or does not do, it describes the release currently on the App Store. Later releases may behave differently. Section 13 explains how this policy is kept up to date.
2. What the app stores on your device
Voilà French keeps a record of your learning so it can show your progress and decide what to practise next. That record stays on your device. It includes:
- Your practice history. Which lessons you have worked on, each answer you gave and whether it was correct, how long you took to answer, and which practice session it belonged to.
- Your progress. The state of each lesson, which lessons you have mastered and when, and the results of any level test you have passed.
- Your vocabulary schedule. When each vocabulary card is next due for review.
- Your preferences. Reminder settings and display choices, and whether you have seen the introduction.
This information is written to the app's own private container on your device using Apple's standard on-device storage. This release contains no code that uploads, synchronises, or transmits it.
3. What the app does not do
In this release:
- No account. The app does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifier.
- No analytics or crash-reporting service. There is no usage tracking, no telemetry, and no monitoring SDK.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party code. The app bundles no external SDKs, frameworks, or services.
- No tracking. Nothing about you is linked to data from other apps or websites, and the app does not show a tracking permission request, because it has nothing to track.
- No selling or sharing of personal information. None is collected, so none exists to sell, share, or disclose.
- No network requests, with one exception. The lessons ship inside the app, and learning works entirely offline. The exception: opening the Privacy Policy or Terms of Use from the app's Settings loads those pages from the web, exactly as a browser would.
4. Reminders
Reminders are optional and off until you turn them on. If you do, iOS asks for your permission, and the app schedules notifications locally on your device based on when your vocabulary cards are next due. There is no push notification server involved, and nothing about your schedule or your progress leaves your device. You can turn reminders off inside the app, or revoke the permission entirely in iOS Settings, at any time.
5. Your device and its security
Because everything the app stores lives on your device, the security of that record is the security of your device. Anyone who can unlock your device can open the app and see your learning history. Keep a passcode or biometric lock enabled, and treat access to your unlocked device as access to your progress.
No method of electronic storage is completely secure. We do not control your device, its configuration, or who has access to it, and we cannot guarantee the security of information held on it.
6. Device backups
If you use iCloud Backup, or back up your device to a computer, that backup may include the app's data along with the rest of your device. Those backups are created and controlled by you through Apple's services and are covered by Apple's privacy policy, not this one. The app itself neither creates nor reads such backups, and we have no access to them.
7. Information Apple receives
Downloading the app is a transaction between you and Apple, and Apple handles it under its own privacy policy. If you have chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may make aggregated, non-identifying statistics such as crash counts available to us. That comes from Apple, not from the app, and it does not identify you. The app itself sends nothing.
8. Children
Voilà French is suitable for all ages. It collects no information from anyone, including children. There is no sign-up, no messaging, no user-generated content, no social features, and no advertising.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us. We can act only on information we actually hold, and this release collects none.
9. Your rights
Data protection laws, including the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, give you rights over personal data an organisation holds about you. This release transmits no personal data to us and stores none outside your own device, so in the ordinary case there is no account to look up, no record to export, and no copy for anyone to correct or delete.
Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under those laws. If you believe we hold personal data about you, contact us and we will respond.
You keep complete control of what is stored on your device: deleting the app removes all of its data from that device. If you also want to remove it from a backup, manage that backup through iOS Settings or through the computer that holds it.
10. How long data is kept
Your learning record stays on your device until you delete the app. There are no server-side copies, so there is nothing for us to expire, archive, or retain elsewhere.
11. Links to other services
This policy, this website, and the app link to pages operated by others, including Apple. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, their availability, or their privacy practices. Once you leave, their own terms and policies apply.
12. Terms of use
Unless a separate agreement is presented to you, the app is licensed, not sold, under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. That licence governs your use of the app, including its warranties and limitations of liability. This policy describes how the app handles information; it is not a contract and does not vary that licence.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy at any time, and updates take effect when posted. The version on this page, with the date shown at the top, is always the current one, so please check it from time to time. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of Singapore, where App to Learn Pte. Ltd. is registered.
